Description

Maple guitars can be bright and airy or totally dead. Fortunately, this Maple A1 Auditorium model with Sitka top and maple neck has everything you could want in a guitar. It has a vibrant sound and vocal clarity beyond what you may expect. Importantly, we like the best maple guitars for their bright highs and well structured bass response. Usually, these instruments are carefully designed and hand-built. Also, they may have received some extra love at the factory.

Specifically, this maple A1 guitar has all three. Crucially, I designed and built this one to be an onstage monster wearing a cute coat. I braced it lightly, and used clear maple (not flamed) to get great response from X-tra light strings (.011s). Literally, the sunburst finish dresses it up to look like any off-the-rack guitar. Then, I used Dunlop 6105 frets and a plain G string. I’m sure it will sound amazing with 80/20 or phosphor bronze but it sounds so good and is so fun to play with nickel strings. I will gladly switch and send a video to anyone interested because…I wanna know for sure…

This would be a good guitar for songwriters, onstage or recording. I put an LR Baggs LB6 in it for good sound and battery-free reliability. It has a 1 13/16″ nut and 25.5″ scale. According to recording artists such as Dean Parks, the wider nut width makes it easier to play the tricky chords and lead lines. The body size is a modern “just-right”. Small enough for discrete carry-on and big enough to punch it out in an acoustic setting. Additionally, there won’t be any United Breaks Guitars video with a high modulus carbon reinforced maple neck.
